Fontenelle Park, home of the Omaha North Vikings Softball program.
Following the fall of 2004, a project was put into motion to build a home softball field for the softball program at Omaha North. The field was ready for play by the final home game of the 2005 season. Since then North has called the softball field in Fontenelle Park home. The original renovation included regrading the entire field, new fence and backstop, brick dugouts, an agrilime infield, a newly sodded outfield, an outfield sprinkler system and new bleachers.
The extensive, original renovation took place in the summer of 2005. But the renovations haven't stopped there. In the summer of 2007 a batting cage, bullpens, a storage building and an infield sprinkler system. In the summer of 2009, the field got yet another renovation!!! This time adding a warning track, replacing the sprinkler systems and the agrilime infield was replaced with a diamond pro infield.
Even after all that Fontenelle Park, is still a work in progress. The summer of 2010 more will be added to a premier facility! Construction on a pressbox, concession stand and bathroom building will begin in July.
The softball team is holding a golf tournament fundraiser to put up an inning by inning scoreboard in the summer of 2010 as well!
